Hat Creek KOA Campground Review
This campground is in a great location to explore the area. Because of the small campsites this wouldn’t be our first choice but it can be fun when you’re with a group.

Antlers campground has nice large sites and views of Lake Shasta. It gets very hot in the summer and unfortunately there is no swimming access available on the lake.

Elk Prairie campground is worth a visit. The campground itself is beautiful and worth seeing even if you stay there the entire trip. But if you have the time, take advantage of being in the center of some incredible experiences such as Fern Canyon.

Richardson Grove is a beautiful campground. It has redwoods and the Eel river. For being such a large campground there aren’t too many trailer friendly sites, but we wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Campgrounds with both redwoods and a water feature are our favorite places to be.

Burlington Campground is in a beautiful location surrounded by redwoods. We enjoyed our visit and found it very relaxing. There are, however, many sites that wouldn't work for a trailer and most sites have little privacy.

Stillwater Cove was a very relaxing place to camp. There were beautiful trails that easily kept both the kids and dog busy. And a beach that you can walk to from camp.

Doran Park is a great place to camp. You’re surrounded by water so just about every site has good views. It’s dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and an overall relaxing place to camp.

Russian Gulch is stunning. The campground is beautiful. It is small and private. It has beach access, dog-friendly hiking, and lush greenery. And it is right next to the charming town of Mendocino.

Woodside Campground is part of Salt Point State Park, located in Jenner, California. If you're thinking about camping there, here’s what you need to know.

Gualala River Redwoods Park was a fun campground to visit. We liked our site and the space we had to explore, we enjoyed seeing the redwoods, the river, and the kids especially liked getting to play at the playground. We would not hesitate to go back.

Sugarloaf Ridge was a fun short getaway. We were happy with the privacy and space (especially in the premium sites). And even though there were no dog-friendly hikes, we had a great time playing in the creek right at camp.

Although it’s disappointing that dogs can’t go on any of the trails at Hendy Woods, we will still definitely go back. Even though we primarily stay at camp, the kids always have an amazing time here. Just being around the trees, getting to climb on logs, riding bikes around, and exploring nature is enough to keep them busy.
